THREAD: Register a Name on ENS (Ethereum Name Service)

Kudos 👏👏👏to @ensdomains and @oneseventwonine for prompting this exercise and thread...

Some basics about ENS first...

1. What's the point? ENS eliminates the need to copy or type long addresses (for us humans).

2. How do you use it? The ENS App allows you to search any name, manage their addresses or resources it points to and create subdomains for each name.
So, let's register a name on ENS.

What you'll need:
1. Some ETH.
2. An ETH wallet.

I had some ETH, but I chose to set up a new wallet with @MetaMask. Their app made the whole process fairly easy as you'll see.
After the setup with MetaMask, I transferred about $150 USD to pay for the name registration with ENS.
Then, head to http://app.ens.domains  and click 'Connect' to connect your wallet.

Search for a name you'd like to register. I chose 'leakyturtles.eth' so that's taken already :). But pick one for you, see if it's available, and click 'Register' to confirm the 1st transaction.
The process takes about a minute to see if the name you picked is still available. Once it is, you'll complete the process by clicking 'Register' and confirming the 2nd transaction.
Congrats! The name is yours. From here you can add other records (I added a BTC address). Be sure to confirm your added records in an all-in-one transaction to save on gas costs.
I hope this thread has been helpful. I'm admittedly a novice in the data/tech/crypto space, but I'm thankful for people like @balajis who are making it easier for people to learn and grow in this new world we're all living. Cheers.
