Hope is a strong, strong drug.

In the 50s, late professor Curt Richter conducted an experiment with rats. Gruesome by today's standards but here's how it went:

He put rats in a pool of water, where they couldn't get out. Long ass explanation of the experiment so I'll simplify.
He put rats in a jar of water. They swam around for about 15 minutes, then drowned. Remember, rats are notoriously good swimmers.

He then put some other rats in the water & just when they were about to drown, he plucked them out, dried them, allowed them rest, dunk 'em again.
Guess how long the rats swam before drowning.

Just guess.

60 hours.

Yup.

60 freaking hours.

Rats that drowned in 15 minutes held on for 60 hours.

His conclusion?

Those rats experienced "Hope."

The first set didn't see a way out & quickly drowned.
The next set then experienced hope. From the 1st time, they knew a hand would rescue them so they treaded water like muthaeffas.

Treaded that water for 2½ days.

"Hope," my friends, should never be taken from anybody.

It's what helps them tread water.

Now y'all can piss off.
