Confused about the Pros of vaccine passports? Here are considerations & what I think about them:
1. Communities "have the right" to protect their members. But
this is often used to excuse xenophobic behavior towards poor & marginalized members of that community.

2. Private companies may have an interest in protecting their employees by requiring guests&staff to be vaccinated. But
those same private parties could do a lot more to help their employees if they really cared e.g. providing healthcare, paid medical leave, and raising min wage

3. The companies creating the vaccine passport apps aim to avoid the uncertainties of paper trail. One could lose their vaccine card, or present a fake card, technology could help authenticate those passport cards.
This is one argument I think is valid.

4. Some have argued that vaccine passports are inevitable, so we might as well get the federal government involved. Certainly, we need federal protections to help streamline any apps instead of leaving it up to private companies to regulate themselves... bcs we know how that goes
Also, some countries are using passports already, and there will be implications for Americans who travel (whenever travelling is a thing again).
