Back home in Sydney, but I wanted to take a moment to thank all the people who spoke with me during my three days at Uluru, Mutitjulu and Yulara.

I went because it’s coming up on four years since the Uluru Statement from the Heart – the ultimate display of generosity by First Nations people, and a genuine opportunity for us to create a more reconciled Australia.

I’m sorry to say that the Morrison Government hasn’t taken up this hand of friendship. Worse, they seem destined to completely ignore it.

Labor is committed to the Statement from the Heart in full. Voice. Treaty. Truth.

Because if we want to change outcomes for First Nations people, then we must allow their voices to be heard.

Well, I heard those voices loud and clear this week.

I want to create a better country for all Australians, and that means the First Australians too.

Because a country that isn’t truly reconciled isn’t truly whole.
