1/ It& #39;s #WorldArtDecoDay so I& #39;ve been asking round the @HistEnvScot Survey and Recording team for their standout buildings of the era.

Clare Sorensen& #39;s plumped for the Viking Cinema, #Largs for the glamour of the 1930s film industry in the West of Scotland...

What& #39;s your fave?
2/ I& #39;m on the same vibes as my colleague Clare for #WorldArtDecoDay as I was thinking of the Radio Cinema, #Kilbirnie by the same architect, James Houston, lovingly converted into a community space by the time we surveyed it in 2009.

Miriam McDonald @HistEnvScot& #39;s Industrial Survey manager is thinking of the former India Tyre Factory, Inchinnan for #WorldArtDecoDay.

We recorded it in 2014 for our Record and @yalepress& #39;s Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire Buildings of Scotland volume.

4/ @IainAndersonHES is also fancying a trip to the cinema, this time in #Glasgow at the GFT aka Cosmo Cinema, Rose Street - with a daunder past the Beresford Hotel on Sauchiehall Street en route.

What& #39;s your Scottish choice for #WorldArtDecoDay?
5/ Jane Thomas reckons ‘James Carrick’s spectacular Rothesay Pavilion on Bute expresses perfectly why Art Deco and seaside holidays have become inextricably linked in our minds.’

More to enjoy on #WorldArtDecoDay in this exhibition that Jane curated: https://bit.ly/3gHdbVD ">https://bit.ly/3gHdbVD&q...
6/ Simon Green has recorded many buildings under threat over the years for RCAHMS and @HistEnvScot. He& #39;s offering up Tarlair Swimming Pool #Macduff for #WorldArtDecoDay, the subject of a survey back in 2008.

7/ Simon Green and the @HistEnvScot Survey gang weren& #39;t short of ideas for #WorldArtDecoDay. As Simon puts it & #39;the buildings celebrate a brave new world of sunshine, fun and freedom& #39;

His other immediate choice was these archive images of the 1938 Empire Exhibition, #Glasgow.
8/ Finally @IainAndersonHES remembers visiting the #Paisley Grammar School sports pavilion on a recce when it was in a bad way. He returned when it was fully restored to its #WorldArtDecoDay full glory.

Full kudos to our ace @HistEnvScot photographers!
