It is bizarre to live in a world where large chunks of the educated classes have fallen into a fear-driven narrative increasingly detached from the verifiable _facts_ of the state of the world.

Facts:
- covid is serious for a small number of people, but those people are already at high risk of illness.
- Covid mortality is on a par with 1 in 5 year influenza seasons in younger and/or healthier European countries (Ireland Sweden).

- covid mortality is on a part with 1 in 12 year influenza season in older or less healthy European nations (e.g. UK).
- all vaccines are highly effective at preventing serious covid19 outcomes, against _all_ variants (based on data so far)

- some vaccines have risks that are elevated from usual background risk of those conditions. They are still /very/ low, but that means they are unsuitable for healthy & not-old people (cause risk of covid is /so low/ for them).

- Younger (sub-40) and healthy people are at no significant risk of serious covid19 outcomes, statistically.

What incontrovertible facts have I missed, that are at odds with the bizarre fear-driven panic gripping many at the moment?
