I saw this headline on the Telegraph being commented on Twitter, I usually don’t read that paper so was quite intrigued as to how the UK can cut reliance on foreign supply chains
These are the proposed “solutions” - huh?
Decarbonising buildings, 5G and off-site construction are just gobbledygook and have nothing to do with making a plan for the “Great British Supply Chain”. On top of that, a “Great British Supply Chain” is just not possible - modern supply chains are cross-border endeavours.
If I were in charge I would first identify sectors that have competitive advantage and are worth bolstering. Study the export markets. Then check that the UK’s trade agreements with said markets are compatible with the plans, maybe adjust the plans, or maybe renegotiate terms.
