Today is the 784th anniversary on 15th #Ramadan of the battle, a decisive victory of the Mamlūks of Egypt over the invading Mongols, which saved Egypt and Islam & halted the westward expansion of the Mongol empire which could reach Mecca & Madina. Europe is indebted of Muslims.

Battle took place just two years after the fall of Baghdad by Halagu this was first defeat of mighty Mongol army and turning point in history.
At one point of time Mongolians had upper hand on Muslims the contemporary accounts report that Mamluk sultan Qutuz threw down his

helmet and urged his men forward to fight in the name of Islam, and that after this inspiring speech the Mamluks began to gain the upper hand. (Britannica)

Also here is another fact that Allah SWT gives honour to those who honour Al Qur’an. And when Muslims abandoned the Qur’an their downfall started fast.

National poet Iqbal also explained the point that how much destructive it is to abandon Qur’an as Prophet SAW would complain to Allah SWT

In 1260, Hulagu Khan sent envoys to Qutuz in Cairo with a letter demanding his surrender that read:
... Your prayers to God will not avail against us.

Battle of ʿAyn Jālūt is popular in history for Muslims’ war strategic genius the feigned retreat strategy.

According to Arabic military treatises of the 13th and 14th centuries, hand cannon was used by the Mamluk side in the Battle of Ain Jalut to frighten the Mongol armies, making it the earliest known battle for hand cannon being used.

The compositions of the gunpowder used in the cannon were also given in those manuals.
