It’s in the Epping Forest branch where the party has truly plumbed new depths. All 4 of its district council candidates - and the one currently in position - used to be in the BNP and have been involved in far-right politics for a long time. We’ll take you through them...
EDDY BUTLER: been around for decades and was prominent in the BNP during the 90s and 00s. He joined the NF in the 80s, led the BNP’s “Rights for Whites” campaign in the early 90s and formed the group of violent skinheads that would become the nazi terror group, Combat 18.
JULIAN LEPPERT: serving councillor who joined the BNP in ’02. Formed the BNP-splinter group the British Democratic Party, has been championed by fascist magazine ‘Heritage & Destiny’ and supported Holocaust deniers. Publicly said “ideally” Epping would be a home for whites only.
PATRICIA RICHARDSON: was elected in Epping in ’04 and ’08 for the BNP, and came second in 2019 for For Britain. Has attended white nationalist conferences, pushed racist pseudo-science and has a history of anti-Muslim positions and consorting with alt-right figures.
LAWRENCE SEARLE: stood for the BNP in Hammersmith in 2010 and has since continued his activism in the far right, mixing with the leader of the National Front and neo-nazis Eddie Stampton and Piers Mellor, whilst also sharing conspiracy theories on “deliberate ethnocide”.
SUSAN BUTLER: elected as BNP councillor for Epping in ’06. Partner of Eddie and long-time far right activist. Attended meetings with Holocaust deniers with Leppert as well as far-right demonstrations led by Britain First and Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, and the antisemite David Icke.
The far right always try to obfuscate and conceal their true intentions, which is why antifascists work to draw back the curtain. For Britain want to hide who they really are, and the backgrounds of their candidates. Share this thread so voters know the truth about For Britain.
