I play WoW with FF14 and ESO on the side, always have.

I often wonder if one of the reasons the communities of those other 2 games seem a lot happier most of the time is because there aren't comparatively big Youtube creators telling them why everything sucks all the time

And yes, both those games do HAVE creators that make content, but they have nothing like the Youtube or Twitch presence that WoW does.

Obviously their communities are smaller overall too, but I wonder how much creators shape the mood, and relatively that is a uniquely WoW thing

Because as a pro creator for 4 years now I can tell you; saying a game sucks is much better $$$ and clout than being enthusiastic. And not just a bit... a LOT

... you know that ANY vide you make will do better with negativity, there's always a potential to emphasise that part. Multiply that by the AMOUNT of WoW creators, you have a feedback loop which doesn't really exist for FF14 or ESO

There's plenty to criticise about ESO and FF14, but I'm not an ESO or FF14 creator so people don't demand a "balanced" opinion from me, so I can just ignore the bad stuff and enjoy the game.

If I ignore the bad stuff in wow I'm not doing my job or being a shill

Just a PS but I definitely mean this thread to be more self-reflective than a comment on any other creators
