According to this map, we have to pay for all of the non-motorized areas in Kananaskis now but McLean Creek Off Highway Vehicle area (an area that often has massive bush parties, wrecked vehicles, destroyed land and garbage left in the wilderness), is free.
So it will now cost $90 to leave these tracks in Kananaskis...
But won’t cost you a penny to leave these tracks in Kananaskis.
It’ll cost you $90 to ride a bike down these trails in Kananaskis...
But will be totally free to carve these trails into Kananaskis.
It’ll cost you $90 to leave a rock on the summit of Prairie Mountain in Kananaskis...
But chances are you won’t get caught leaving the aftermath of your bush party behind in the free part of Kananaskis
Can @JasonNixonAB @JessStCool or @Albertaparks please explain the thought process that resulted in having to charge user fees for non-motorized minimal impact recreation in Kananaskis, while exempting the lawless problematic McLean Creek OHV area in Kananaskis?
Just 3 years ago, the province spent a fortune fighting a wildfire that started from off-roaders shooting exploding targets in this area.

Is destroying nature, garbage and wildfire in this area not a concern? https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/mclean-creek-wildfire-1.4680121
