I'm fixing to start unfollowing people for internet diagnosing people with mental illnesses because they wear masks outside. It's ableist and nobody should have to give their life history to prove to you that their masking meets your validity standards.

For the first time in my life, I've been able to do what I need to do to best control my asthma without having to evaluate how people will react, and now people on the left are being ableist and internet diagnosing mental illnesses, while the right is just being assholes.

The more you stigmatize masks outside as mental illness and accuse people of having OCD, the harder you make it for people to exist in public without getting harassed.

That's even before going into how there's a really valid reason for people to not trust the CDC on masking after they lied to the entire country and claimed masks wouldn't protect you but would give a false sense of security and masking would make it more likely to catch covid.

After the CDC already lied and told people that the "false sense of security" from masking would make it more likely to catch covid, it's an entirely rational decision for people to wait to change behavior until they're sure the CDC isn't lying again.

But congratulations on your internet diagnosing people with OCD turning you into the exact same person as Tucker Carlson on masks, just without the CPS calls.

It's also just being a good neighbor, because for the first time in their lives, in some cases, women who choose to wear niqabs are able to exist without racist harassment since people have discovered that face coverings have a lot going for them. https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2020/08/muslim-women-niqabs-pandemic

P.S. Even if someone does have OCD, that's between them and their doctor how to best treat it, and stigmatizing people for having it doesn't do anything to help.

Also, the right wing (self-professed) germaphobes I know IRL are some of the only conservatives taking it seriously
