With all this talk about a Kings rebrand and how they should wear forum blue full time, I decided it’d be fun to design what I think their new look should be.

A thread:
Home Forum Blue and Gold:

LA hockey has had a lot of different looks, but it’s time to bring back the royal colors. These jersey pay homage to those that have come before, from Dionne to Gretzky, Robitaille to Kopitar, these take inspiration from all throughout Kings history.
Away Forum Blue and Gold:

Using the Gretzky era as a base, and taking elements from the LA’s first to their current jerseys, these encapsulate the entirety of the Kings history. Hockey isn’t what it is today without LA, and these pay homage to everything the Kings have done.
Heritage Jersey:

And in paying homage, it is only fitting that the Kings remain faithful to the era that changed the sport. Straight from the ‘89 season, these transport the players to a blossoming time for the sport of hockey in Southern California.
Home Alternate Jersey:

And finally, a fresh look for LA. Not only are these a new concept, they too take inspiration from the past. Based on the current silver look, they draw from the 1970 all gold kit, mixed with the current black and white colorway…
… And together, they mimic the look of the old WHL’s LA Blades, a minor league team that Willie O’Ree once played for. A tribute to a local team that helped evolve the sport.
And all of this requires a new brand. Using the wordmark created for the team this year, the Kings mix old and new for a fresh logo.
I went back and forth on a lot of different ideas, learned a lot about jersey design and let me tell you, I don’t envy jersey designers. It hard making something that looks semi-decent. But this was a lot of fun and would love to hear everyone’s thoughts!
