Shoutout to when I was paid $7.25/hr, wasn't allowed to sit down or use the toilet, had my items thrown out or put back on the shelf and resold, got written up for taking my lunch break, couldn't take a day off to see the DA, and was lectured after being beaten by a customer. https://twitter.com/eliz4beth444/status/1387124478518435840
Got sick, said I can't come into work. They said no one else can come in, so I better show up.

Ran to the bathroom mid-checkout because I was sick.

Written up for leaving the register unmanned.

"Why'd you come in if you're really that sick?"
Worked every single holiday, big and small.

Requested New Years Eve and New Years Day off to be with friends.

Was told I have to work both.

"You just want to get wasted. You're not old enough to drink. You're showing up on New Years."
Asked about benefits, as I passed the probationary period. Was immediately put on part-time shifts.

Told I couldn't work more than 40 hours a week. Got a phone call every Saturday morning at 6:30 AM asking me to come in to cover a shift. Said "fuck off" once, was written up.
Wasn't paid for every overnight Friday shift. Overnights were time-and-a-half--the only reason why I took them.

Told to call HR. Called HR, told to call payroll. Called payroll, told to talk to manager. Talked to manager, told to call HR.
Smoked a cigarette while putting carts away during a blizzard. Manager said my work shirt wasn't exposed, so I was technically not working--and because I took so long it was my 30 minute unpaid break. I was told to clock out 30 minutes early but keep working until my EOD.
We got cold cuts, potato salad, and hoagie rolls in the break room for Thanksgiving. There was no mayo, so I threw the potato salad on my sandwich. The district manager and store manager were so horrified by this, they debated about drug testing me again.
Anyway, if I had to work that job again, I'd expect no less than $30/hr.

And even then, I'd be out once I worked enough to get unemployment.
