A thread on how Messi's PR robbed a Ballon D'or from Sneijder in 2010.

Mind you, I will reach the conclusion by comparing Sneijder's stats in 2010 with Modric's in 2018.

By no means will it be a dig at Modric's achievements in 2018, but just something that's necessary for perspective and proving my point.

Sneijder in 2010 was a:

• Treble winner with Inter Milan
• WC runners up with Netherlands

His stats in WC 2010 were:
• 5 goals
• 1 vs Slovakia in last 16
• 2 vs Brazil in QF
• 1 vs Uruguay in SF
• 1 assist
• vs Slovakia in last 16

Sneijder's stats in Ucl 09/10 were:

• 3 goals
• 1 in QF vs CSKA Moscow
• 1 in SF vs Barcelona

• 6 assists
• 1 vs Chelsea last 16
• 1 vs CSKA Moscow QF
• 1 vs Barcelona SF
• 1 vs Bayern Final

Modric had a similar year in 2018 in terms of achievements as Sneijder in 2010

Modric in 2018 was a:

• WC runners up with Croatia
• Ucl winner with Real Madrid

Modric's stats in WC 2018:
• 2 goals
• 1 vs Nigeria (group stage)
• 1 vs Argentina (g stage)
• 1 assist
• vs Russia in QF

His stats in Ucl 17/18:
• 1 goal
• vs APOEL (group stage)
• 1 assist
• vs Dortmund (group stage)

As can be seen from above, even though both players are midfielders & both achieved similar success in respective years, Sneijder was superior to Modric in terms of big game performances and impact on team's success.

Now coming to Messi in 2010 and Ronaldo in 2018.

Messi in 2010:

• 60 Goals
• 17 Assists

• La Liga champion

Ronaldo in 2018:

• 49 Goals

As I have proved Sneijder in 2010 was superior to Modric in 2018, and if Ronaldo was not superior, he was on terms in 2018 with Messi in 2010.

If Messi won the Ballon D'or in 2010 over Sneijder, why was the same criteria not upheld for Ronaldo in 2018 by French football?

If Modric won the Ballon D'or fairly in 2018, does this mean Sneijder was robbed in 2010 by Messi's PR team?

As far as I am concerned, Modric deserved in 2018 just like Sneijder did in 2010. Messi's PR definitely robbed Sneijder.
