@GustavoArellano I've never heard the word "desmadre" or the term "fresa" other than in it's literal meaning of strawberry. I'm a tech worker with an MS sitting in my gilded prison looking out my 30ft floor to ceiling windows at the boring landscape of the Silicon Valley.
I must be a whole bunch of fresas. I don't care that he went to French Laundry. I don't care that he is making me wear a mask. I don't care that he shut things down*, my reasons may be different than the average Latina but I want to "desmadre" his posh ass out of office.
The key word is "posh". Gavin didn't earn his money. This state may have a lot of wealthy people and over-educated people but a lot of us made it on our own. I was raised by a single Mexican mother in LA, who valued education above all else. Soy orgullosa de ser fresa, me lo gané
Gavin doesn't understand people like me anymore than he understands people who had to go to work in the depths of the pandemic, possibly leaving their kids to study online while home alone - IF they have access to the internet. I wanted a governor who truly represents California.
Someone like Villaraigosa or Chiang. Gavin targeted salons very harshly while allowing other businesses to open w/modifications. I can figure out how to do my hair on my own. That isn't the issue. My stylist is a Latina who runs a small salon in San Carlos with her daughter.
My nail salon is a small business owned by Vietnamese immigrant sisters. His policies hurt women and minority owned businesses unfairly. I don't take that lying down.

I voted against the death penalty proposition a few years back, but it passed.
He comes in and decides that his "values" supersede the will of the people. He can't be claiming it's due to his Catholic upbringing and his Jesuit education because he is pro-choice (as am I). This action makes him a dictator.
The democrats have taken black people for granted for decades. They want to do the same to Latinos by lumping us in as BIPOC or "black and brown". Yet, our Latino AG chose not to prosecute Vallejo PD in the death of Sean Monterrosa.
I am not asking anyone to vote Republican. I won't but I may skip it. What I am asking Latinos to do is pay attention. I'm asking Latinos to demand more. I'm asking Latinos to not be seen as a one issue (immigration) constituency. I ask the same of women and abortion.
I'm asking to not be taken for granted! If raining down desmadre means wreaking havok. I'm in. And yes "no la riegues" - don't F it up!
