The Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990 "is a truth-in-advertising law which prohibits misrepresentation in marketing of American Indian or Alaska Native arts and crafts products within the United States." You can make sure you are buying Native in the following way:
Does the seller use terms like "Native style," "boho," "tribal" etc.? If yes, they are likely not Native American. The term "style" is used to bypass the IACA.

Eagle feathers are illegal to have in your possession if you are not an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe
You should not buy sacred items (pipes, tobacco, white sage etc.) if you are not Native. Some Native people sell these items, but that does not make it okay for you to buy them.
Lastly, it is illegal to buy and sell bear claws if you are not Native American.

Please keep all of this in mind when searching for Native American crafts on any major shopping website.
