Our Senators and House of Reps members are overrated. They earn millions of naira every month (not counting allowances). They have access to raw intelligence, they have special advicers, who set up special committees over and over and over again yet they still dont get it.

Their modus operandi is to invite Service Chiefs to the senate floor and do nothing but scream and make dramatic hand gestures for the camera. They have no clue about the strategic realities on the ground and the nature of counter insurgency.

Just saw on Channels TV roughly 10 mins ago law makers asking for an audit of all military equipment because civilians were being kidnapped, and then the big one,..calling on President Buhari to declare a state of emergency and have states close their border

..to mitigate against further ISWAP attacks. These guys are asking the wrong questions. Instead of asking how Boko Haram/ISWAP and bandits get the weapons they use in terrorising Nigerians, they are asking an army at war for an audit. They can talk

..about beefing up the Nigeria Police Force to effectively carry out their statutory responsibility to investigate, track and solve "kidnap" cases. But they choose theatrics, following the trend. The Nigerian military is taking flak from foreign groups, Amnesty International

..taking flake from the media. Taking flake from the very citizens they are defending with their lives, taking flake from dolllar hungry vendetta seeking "activists", and now the Senate and House of Reps. With all these daily drama they expect the army to focus on the war

..at hand rather than walk on egg shells trying to maintain their image. Even an unfortunate Blue on Blue incident is politicized. Everybody has an opinion from the comfort of their air conditined bedrooms.

..to cap it all. How in God's green earth does closeing state borders stop ISWAP? How will border cosure in Lagos or Uyo affect the insurgency? Instead of them to call for the complete shutdown of our border with Cameoon, Niger and Chad to try to stem the flow of weapons

Yesterday they were calling for AFRICOM. These are the people we have runing the affairs of this nation.

If they were personally affected by the war they won't play PR games. They will take proacrive measures, especially as regards proliferation of weapons entering Nigeria

They will call for the arrest Sheikh Gumi for questioning over ties with bandits and a never ending campaign for "Amnesty" because the bandits are the unfortunate victims of a corrupt government.

But they are not. It makes good television to make the other party lool bad.
