I think if I could give arpgs/CS one piece of advice about actual designs (i have non design thoughts lmao) it would be: when you are very strict about sizing/placement/etc., in what ways does it benefit the players and in what ways does it harm them? 1/
2/ Like it's worse in some games than others (coughcoughtokotascoughcough) but i would honestly ask what difference it makes if a marking covers 60% of a character rather than 50%, if you have to literally *measure* it to tell. It doesn't hurt anything to keep it, but 2/
sending it back for interminable reviews hurts the player, the artist (if different person), the mod team.... the ripple effects are huge, and you achieved literally nothing of value. It's even worse than a game has rules that aren't flexible for different art styles! 3/
like if you are basing your sizing/placement on the art style of the creator, what will you do when someone comes along who draws paws fatter or thinner? Makes their heads bigger or smaller compared to body? Draws hair differently? Can it accommodate that, or will it punish it?
I have a lot of thoughts about this and basically all of them are "who the hell cares" lol
i was inspired by several things to make this thread but nearly all of them were reading old toko drama lol
