#OHSen

NE Ohio Rep. @TimRyan entered the Buckeye State's 2022 U.S. Senate race yesterday, becoming the first Democrat to join.

We spoke shortly after he launched his campaign.

Here's a thread of extended clips from our conversation ⤵️📺
As he begins his #OHSen bid, @TimRyan told me his campaign platform is focused on improving workers' lives.

“We want to make sure that they get representation in the United States Senate, someone that's going to fight like hell to cut them in on the deal.”
Having been in Congress for 18 years, what does @TimRyan say to Ohioans who don't want to promote a career politician?

“They're going to want somebody in the Senate who knows how to get things done, and I've got a long record of getting things done," he argues. #OHSen
Since Sen. @SherrodBrown is the only Democrat elected statewide in Ohio, will @TimRyan style his #OHSen bid after him?

“Sherrod Brown has been fighting for workers his whole career. And so have I…[we] have very similar views and voting records. And we're very aligned..."
What is @TimRyan's message to Ohio Dems skeptical of elevating another white man?

“I fought my whole career to increase diversity and representation…all I can say is, look, I'm going to work my rear end off for workers, whether they're white or Black or male or female.” #OHSen
As @TimRyan's district, #OH13, has gotten more conservative, what has he learned about outreach as a Dem?

“You focus on the workers…you focus on their struggles, that they've been doing everything right. They show up at work, they do their job, and they still can't get ahead.”
Back in Oct., @TimRyan told me he wasn't interested in running for #OHSen or #OHGov.

What changed? Was @senrobportman's surprise retirement the main draw?

Ryan said the Senate is at a "crossroads."

“If we don't get the right people in office now, we're going to go backwards."
