Why IWC narratives get on my nerves: a good friend of mine said to me last week that #AEW is the go-to place for released #WWE wrestlers. In fact, of the April 2020 releases, 6 went to AEW and 6 went to #Impact. And that's 7 vs 8 if you count short-term runs.
It's speculation on my part, but I think the attraction of Impact is the flexible contracts Anthem have, plus the AEW roster being bloated so you get more consistent exposure even with Impact having a smaller audience.
This thread isn't meant to be antagonistic to AEW fans in general, by the way. I said years ago that the best thing for the industry would be for the smaller players to team up in opposition to an all-consuming WWE, and it would appear Tony Khan and Anthem agree with me.
My intended takeaway from the first two tweets is this: As with everything that has a fandom, what the fans think matters often doesn't reflect the realities of entertainment industries and the people involved.
If you want a list, by the way:
To Impact -
Curt Hawkins
Gallows and Anderson
Eric Young
Heath Slater (out with injury)
Deonna Purrazzo
(Brief runs by EC3 and Killer Kelly)

To AEW-
The Revival
Rusev
Tay Conti
Matt Hardy
Serena Deeb
(Brief run by Zack Ryder)
