today our team decided, in the space of about 5 minutes, to deny service to a company that makes products for police departments.

it’s really that easy.

if you’re acting like it’s not that easy, you’re telling on yourself.
i wasn’t going to say anything about this bc it is just a normal, every day thing: don’t empower the prison industrial complex

then i read this essay by a basecamp employee and felt her sheer *exhaustion* over the fake complexity of “Moral Quandaries” https://janeyang.org/2021/04/27/an-open-letter-to-jason-and-david/
Q: should we knowingly and intentionally profit off horrible things, even if we really, really like money?

A: no. what’s wrong with you
1. police eat donuts. there’s a big difference between “donut shop” and “catering company specializing in police departments”

2. microsoft intentionally works with ICE. easy: i don’t need or want microsoft’s business.

please try harder on your next gotcha. this is just sad https://twitter.com/pinterestinpink/status/1387136505798397960
we don’t *investigate* our customers.

we just click the link in their email signatures.

the bar is really, really low.

still so many pretend it’s impossible to meet.
