So we started with a billeted list of characters, and these are the original sketches I came up with based on a rough layout I made with characters digitally.

After the initial sketches were approved we moved to digital outlines and flat color proofs for the skates. Traced digitally from the sketches I made.

Once those were approved I used a white chalk marker that could be easily wiped off with water if necessary to sketch the characters onto the leather skates.
