bug fables has good characters in general but leif really punches above his weight in the same way i think kim in disco elysium does. not in that they're similar characters but because they just have something Extra about them that you can't help but be attracted to
they have just 2 or 3 extra little quirks that other characters don't get to exhibit. and they all just "work". like kim being really into cars. or leif being obsessed with everyone's pets
it's just decent character writing to give your characters interests or ways of expressing themselves that you wouldn't expect from their broad characterization, but it's another thing to do it several times over and still have it all feel cohesive and "right" for that character
