The Lewis and Clark expedition relied on Native Americans. 7/
A Lemhi Shoshone woman, Sacajawea, helped them as a translator and guide. 8/
The Shoshone horses she was able to obtain allowed them to cross the Rocky Mountains. 9/
Many roads were built on Native trails that they had used for tens of thousands of years. 10/
