The use of the term "Woke" for anything that concerns social or racial justice is a marker of a few things at this moment in political discourse.
One, it's a sure sign anyone using it is over 45.. they haven't figured out no one under that age uses Woke anymore to describe , well, most any action or protest or state of being.
Two, it's a term that has been appropriated as a way to push back against the rising tide of protest and general disgust about racism, etc, in the country,
It has turned into a term of derision through those who are uncomfortable with history, racism, or any critique about anything that is wrong with America at this particular juncture in time. Soo....
anticipate that the term "woke" is going to be used as a rallying cry for centrism, quelling protest, justifying police brutality or any other thing that challenges the structures of power and race in America.
And for all the evangelicals using Woke and Critical Race Theory to sell books, webinars and seminars this summer.... Read a few books, why don't cha, and get a good definition of what you're condemning instead of faking it.
