PLEASE READ IF YOU CAN: what's happening on kauai right now: a thread

right now, Knudsen Trust wants to develop 110 acres in Koloa and Poipu. the land has already been divided into lots and there are already a substantial amount of tourist amenities in the area (golf course, pools, etc)

THIS IS HEIAU LAND. THIS IS LAND ENDANGERED SPECIES HABIT. the old walls of the heiau that stood have already been bulldozed. our land continues to be made profitable for the white settler state that dominates us.

kanakas make up just above 10% of the population of the islands. we make up nearly half of the houseless population. we already cannot live here. this is happening NOW. colonizing is STILL OCCURRING. i grew up on this land. i spent time on this land.

the white settlers have taken enough. these 20+ developments planned for this massive plot will destroy viable farmland and desecrate an indefinite amount of bodies of our kupuna. my heart is heavy, my na'au is weary.

i know the world is all sorts of fucked up right now, but this shattered my heart this morning. i'll be linking the petition to stop it, but that is far from enough. tell your mainland friends to stop moving here. tell your mainland friends to stop supporting the tourist cult.
