I saw an absolutely fantastic tweet from someone earlier which went something along the lines of

“Levy would fire Levy if he was his boss”

💯 correct.

I’m going to put together a thread of Levy’s decisions and why I believe if it was someone working for him he would get rid
The manager appointments

Ryan Mason on a Levy favourite “interim basis” becomes Levy’s 13th man in the hot seat in 21 years.

Jose the latest failure, employed despite a clear decline in ability to do the job and an anti spurs style of football leaves with a £15m+ payoff
The backroom

Levy chose Hitchen for picking up the finest talent around the world, not only has he done the opposite for vast amounts of money, he confessed to hating the January transfer window in the amazon documentary.

Hitchen, Baldini, Commoli all failed in the DOF roles
Furloughing staff

When a global pandemic shocked the world, Levy took the opportunity to save a buck and put the clubs name in the mud in international news by furloughing non playing staff. One of only 6 clubs to take this step.

Something reversed after widespread criticism
Joining the super league

Despite knowledge that clubs fans never wanted such a move, Levy became the only British owner/chairman to sell the clubs soul.

A backlash would ensue, the league fall through leading to protests against his and rivals ownerships.

Another poor decision
Pochettino

Having stumbled across a dream, a man who could work miracles on peanuts whilst keeping his mouth shut, Spurs hit world record profits.

18 months without a signing, unhappy players winding down contracts. Levy got rid to appoint his dream manager Jose
1 trophy

21 managers, numerous players, sporting directors. Have all came and gone. The one constant during this time?

Levy!

Why have so many tried and failed to deliver on the field success? Were they bad choices? Were they not given the right tools to achieve? What happened
Bizarre choices

Hiring a man in Jose who was everything but a Spurs type manager, Jose was appointed to be the man to finally “get Spurs over the line”

A week before his first cup final. Levy sacked him leaving a 29 year old with 0 experience to lead the club v the leagues best
Jack Grealish

Signing a player Poch wanted, young, British high sell on value from a club in the league below about to go bankrupt is like taking candy from a baby. Right?

No, Levy waited, waited, waited some more, played games and got done.

Grealish now valued over £50m
Sissoko

Poch wanted a young quick wideman who could play up top.

Rather than sign Mane from his and DOF Mitchell former club for £30m

Levy chose to spend the same fee, on deadline day for relegated Newcastle dud Sissoko as the “best deals come late” to the delight of Newc fans
Berbatov

After holding onto Berba for so long to eek out every penny he could get, Levy had left himself with no time to find a replacement taking Frasier Campbell on loan as his replacement.

A move that would be the beginning of the end for the one manager to win 🏆 under him
Expiring contracts

Eriksen valued at £80m wound his contract down to the point where £18m was all Levy could get for him, Jan went free, Wanyama too, Rose next whilst Lamela, Lloris & Aurier now enter their final year.

What about Son? 2 years remain, no contract in sight!
I’m at a loss to explain Levy’s strengths now!

I’m told he is a great businessman, but the thread above suggests the opposite.

He has alienated other chairman and his clubs fans

Managers seemingly (Rogers) don’t want to work under him

The club has over £1BN debt

1 x 🏆
