Many fantasy sports creators assume they need to build an audience from scratch, attracting people interested in their creations.

It& #39;s far more effective to find an audience that already exists and create a space for that community to connect with each other.

1/
Step 1: Find where your community is spending its time.

The Fantasy Sports community gathers all over the place (i.e., Twitter, Reddit, FB, CH, etc...), but there are different preferences for different niches.

Start small. FF Twitter is a fantastic place to start imo.

2/
Step 2: Once you& #39;ve found it, genuinely participate in it.

Avoid the mistake most creators do, which is to spam the community w/ their creations from the jump.

*Focus on connection, not promotion.*

Don& #39;t ask your audience to come to you, meet them where they already are.

3/
After a while, you& #39;ll start to build relationships w/ other ppl in the community, and your consistent participation will give you credibility.

Ppl will care about you and be invested in whatever you do.

4/
Step 3: Look for opportunities to connect your community/audience to itself.

Ask what you can do for others in the community. What value can you provide that people don& #39;t currently have but desperately want?

5/
We& #39;ve seen this strategy work in our industry/community. Here are two examples...

SFB is the most prominent example, but not the only one. He genuinely participates in the community, which allows him to identify opportunities to create value.

This lined up perfectly w/ the boom in popularity of fantasy. He connected a fast-growing, EXISTING community to itself, combined with great timing.

8/
This requires a mindset shift for most creators.

Josh Spector, who wrote extensively on this idea, frames it nicely, "Your job isn& #39;t to connect an audience to you - it& #39;s to connect a community to itself."
