/ Anecdote time. Last week I spoke with a good friend in Beijing. She's a senior executive at a large, well-known company. She said Tesla was in much deeper trouble there than Wall Street realizes. $TSLAQ
/ Her main point was the importance of the "five regulators" warning in February. This was "Elon's last chance" and he was "testing the patience of the party". Her interpretation was the CCP went public in February as a clear warning shot. $TSLA
/ By flouting this warning, Elon has embarrassed the party, and she predicted he would get "the Jack Ma treatment" going forward. She predicted the propaganda would be oriented around how the party is "protecting the rights of Chinese citizens" against an outside enemy. $TSLA
/ Mind you, this conversation occurred BEFORE reports of Tesla cars being turned away from highways, malls and restaurants became public. BEFORE today's amazing article about brand damage and falling sales. $TSLA https://twitter.com/globaltimesnews/status/1387058997799366661?s=20
/ She emphasized that the protest video was ALLOWED to go viral. The accident reports are ALLOWED to be highlighted. This is a conscience decision of the CCP, and it would be difficult to undo the impact. "This is now a one-way street for Elon." $TSLA
/ Time will tell if Elon can grovel his way back into the good graces of the CCP. This is worth keeping a close eye on. $TSLA
