Facebook's VP just falsely told Senate Judic that FB does not let advertisers target financial services ads based on criteria like age/gender. NOT TRUE! In fact, I'm suing FB right now for denying women & older people financial services ads & FB is defending its right to do so.
In Liapes v. Facebook (San Mateo Ct.), we show how in the past year Facebook has routinely published insurance ads that were denied to ALL women and older people. We say it violates public accommodation laws. FB argues it's good and appropriate to do so, and immune under 230.
The prior tweet is an example of an insurance ad where Facebook excluded all women and people older than 64 from receiving the ad.
