Lulu Lytle is the designer who refurbished the Downing St. flat. Her company is called Soane. I was having a look on her website. A lot of these designs are rebranded William Morris but not as good: https://www.soane.co.uk/fabrics-wallpapers/fabrics?pagesize=42
Lulu says of the process of design: "Age-old patterns are studied, & their compositions & colours are sensitively reworked into contemporary fabric designs . . ." Why do people swallow this stuff ?
What I've seen of her interior design, I would describe it as faux-Victorian. Why pay through the nose for it ? You could easily design something very similar yourself for a fraction of the money.
"But that's not the point, Matt". I know, I know. It's a status thing. The whole point is, it's expensive & fashionable in the right circles, & everyone knows it.
What is 'Soane' intended to evoke ? Sir John Soane ?
