i think the recent direction the mcu has taken especially with the disney + shows lends credence to the dark avengers theories (major mcu disney + spoilers)

there have been rumors (not so much theories like i said lol) abt mcu bringing in the dark avengers as next major baddies. idea is basically dark version of the avengers. lots of characters for the avengers to use tbh especially w disney + characters.

some of the characters fit the theme too since some of the members are not really bad guys just... complicated...but still kinda bad. like John Walker

+ theres the rumor that they are bringing osborn into the mcu AND that dafoe is slated for spider-man 3. a bit of a reach but it would fit to bring in a sorta antithesis to tony thru osborn. raimi's green goblin was already kinda stark-esque in terms of power and tech
