There is a “call to action” by the anti-vaxx community for today’s mtg. They are being asked to demand the vaccine passport contract be canceled (which they claims tracks you) & Dr Chau fired.

Be warned- some will be wearing yellows Stars of David pinned to their shirts.

The meeting has begun, I’m rolling up a little late so I may have missed a little but seems like just the invocation and pledge. They are just now going over the agenda, identifying what needs to be pulled.

Appointments to commissions next. And odd, public comments-

Some of the anti-vaxx crowd are “concerned” with Supervisor Chaffee’s appointment of Keven Mo-Wong to the Orange County Human Relations Commission. They are concerned he is overly qualified for the position and are requesting more info by supervisors for their reason to appoint.

The comments were all the same & definitely planned/directed. I will say that I am not opposed to transparency though, so while I find these comments almost offensive, I believe better understanding by Supervisors about appointments (especially out of district) is a good thing.

The same public speakers are now speaking about their concerns for Supervisor Chaffee’s appointment of Danielle Thomas (Brea) to the Animal Care Community Outreach Committee.

I will point out, (on paper) Chaffee is one of just two Democrats that sit on the OC Supervisor board.

Sup Foley & Wagner both point out that this appointment is for a voluntary position open to residents with a heart for animals, qualifications don’t need to include being a veterinarian and having a degree in Psychology doesn’t make someone a Psychologist (one concern mentioned).

OC Health update is the next agenda item, public speakers can now comment. They have 67 today.

First comment immediately is on the vaccine passport app that they claim is a tracker and the vaccine is a device being inserted into individuals that will stay inside them forever.

One commenter didn’t seem to be a fan of Supervisor Foley.

Another commenter compared British women being sexually harassed to voluntary vaccines.

Next commenter called this genocide.

“My Body My Choice”

Common phrase being used by commenters who oppose voluntary vaccines, commenters who most likely stand in front of Planned Parenthood and protest with their pro-life friends.

What are the chances those claiming they voted for Supervisor Foley actually voted for Foley?

FYI- I am being told that the Othena app will rip out people’s souls.

Dr Chau’s PhD is being questioned. @VoiceofOC got a shout out for their articles on the degree he bought online.

Some showed up with “My Body My Choice” merch.

Supervisor Foley has requested speakers address the board and not employees (specifically Dr. Chau). Do agreed but said legally they are limited on their enforcement.

Libby, a new Orange County resident, showed off her yellow Star of David that read “Do Not Comply”.

I am not a fan of Dr. Chau. But y’all bringing up his history of suicidal thoughts that he has shared to explain his decision to go into psychiatry is fucked up. That was absolutely crossing a line and as a mother, you should check yourself and learn to be supportive humans.

This resident would like to mandate vegetables and not vaccines.

Supervisor Foley (on her second meeting) is being accused of working with Dr Chau to manipulate the board and also abusing her power of giving private businesses the right to make decisions regarding their own business.

Being told the covid vaccine is gene altering & will track me for the government.

Someone confused the meeting for a bible study. One woman held up a bible and said that Supervisors are appointed by God not the people. Then held up a Dr Seuss book and I lost track of her point.

Comments took a weird turn with witches & broomsticks, but quickly wrapped up.

Dr Chau (OC Health Officer & Director) is now giving update. Stable numbers & hospitalizations. Current trend shows younger people hospitalized, which is a statewide trend.

Johnson & Johnson vaccine pause by FDA & CDC has been lifted.

Orange County has logged 2 million vaccinations (unclear if all are OC residents). Appx. 1.3 million vaccinated through Othena.

Wagner is questioning why we need to continue the local health emergency order.

Dr Chau said as long as there are cases & variants. Wagner concerned that means it will never be lifted. Chau is now discussing herd immunity which is guesstimated to be around 75-80% vaccinated.

Wagner is letting the board know he is getting closer to wanting order lifted.

Wagner asking about today’s CDC announcement regarding fully vaccinated individuals no longer needing to wear a mask outdoors. Chau has said he needs to wait for instructions by CA Health Dept since their power supersedes county.

Wagner questioning digital vaccine verification.

Wagner is saying that since comments by his supporters are against the QR vaccine verification through Othena, he is not wanting the digital QR option for those who opt in to the digital record. Wagner is asking to stick with a paper record only.

To clarify, those against the digital vaccine record are also against the vaccine. So their pressure at this meeting can make decisions for others and not themselves.

Don Wagner seriously asked Dr Chau is there is a tracking device in the vaccines. Dr Chau laughed at him.

Supervisor Bartlett is clarifying the digital vaccine record is not mandatory and is an individuals choice. She clarifies many of her constituents have requested this since issues with losing the paper card.

Chau said QR’s change when used, so you can’t track when it’s scanned.

Bartlett pointed out those concerned with being tracked are already being tracked by their smart phones and even some cars.

Foley asked if they end the emergency order would that then cut off FEMA and other federal funding. CEO Kim is confirming that may be true.

2.57 million doses delivered in Orange County. He clarified that the number includes second doses. So if you have received both doses, then you counted for 2 towards that number. 978k fully vaccinated.

Chau said we need at least 1 million more.

Dr Chau does not know if they will reach their goal of herd immunity by June 15th as previously set as a goal. He used issues like J&J delay as a reason.

Confirmed digital verification is HIPPA approved. Needs supervisor approval to move forward on digital portion of app.

Chau is talking about working on communication between other vaccine providers with OC Health so that those who received vaccines outside of OC Health(example - Kaiser or Albertsons) could possibly get a digital verification as well. Would need to be board approved.

Supervisor Foley is asking about how to get record of additional comments to the meeting since many residents don’t feel comfortable attending meetings.

Foley said she has been in communication with the OC Business Council and they are supportive of the digital verification.

California allocation of vaccines will decrease in the next couple of weeks by the federal govt. Chau did confirm that there are still increases in vaccines coming, so it appears we shouldn’t necessarily feel any issues with changes in state allocations.

Chaffee wanted to know how we are doing on inequity. Chau said he doesn’t have the number with him but their website updates every Wednesday on this information.

Chaffee is claiming access is impacting vaccine hesitancy. Said mobile pods are helpful.

Not being discussed is hesitancy by those who would not fall into the inequity category.

Seems like a large elephant in the room after the 60+ comments (and even a comment by Supervisor Wagner) regarding gene alterations and tracking.

OC Health is working to educate local Heath Care providers on vaccines so they can properly answer questions for their patients who may be hesitant.

Chau says he is being stricter with vaccines for minors. Legal guardian must be with them, not just letter as state recommends.

It is 12:25pm and I’m officially over the discussion of whether residents should have the ability to opt into a voluntary digital vaccine record.

Y’all aren’t even getting vaccinated! Fucking hell, why do we continue to entertain this bullshit?

Chau is confirming that California has their own regulations/opportunities for private businesses and venues to increase their capacity if everyone shows proof of being vaccinated.

Wagner is back on the CDC mask changes, gotta keep his voters/supporters/maskholes happy.

Do just announced California will be aligning with CDC recommendations on outdoor mask wearing.

CEO Kim confirmed that the board isn’t approving amendments to the Othena app to add the digital record today. It appears Kim may be making this approval & posting on website? Unsure.

Foley asking why OC Fairgrounds isn’t being used as a super site like Anaheim & Soka. Also asking why OC Alert system isn’t being used to communicate with residents when vaccines near them are available.

Chau will talk with vaccine committee about her recommendations.

Regarding OC Fairground, Chau said we do not have the vaccine availability to ramp up sites. Foley asked if we could partner with outside agencies like Albertsons, and give them a larger location like OC Fairgrounds if they have the vaccines available. Wanting partnership.

Chau said that outside agencies don’t usually want to share their vaccine allocations with OC Health, but instead usually demands OC Health gives them more.

Foley said they are trying to extend hours at sites but issues with lighting, etc. Do said no site “favored” over another.

Chairman Do is now going over all of Foley’s questions (he didn’t do this to anyone else) to clarify her “misinformation”. Do did not clarify information to the public when Wagner asked if vaccines track people.

Definitely feel some tension on the part of Do towards Foley.

Chau is asking if a formal action needs to be held today on the contract. Do is saying the action won’t be happening today. Seems Chau is as confused as the public and media on what’s happening.

Do claiming contract needs review by Kim and will have to come back at next mtg.

Meeting ended for lunch and closed session.
