There has been so much about discourse about show vs books even it comes to Kaz. Let’s talk about what they got right.

1. Highlighting that he’s a thief by showing that he stole not just the Dekappel painting but many others (you can see multiple painting in Kaz’s office)
2. Kaz outsmarting Pekka Rollins by getting to the heartrender first and knowing what to give the guard to get inside.
3. In the scene where Alexei is shot Kaz is the only person who doesn’t react. Showing us that he’s not only accustomed to violence but he’s comfortable with it.
4. I know people don’t like that Pekka got the drop on Kaz but I feel like his reaction to Pekka was right on point. The intensity coming off Kaz in that scene & after was just absolutely perfect.
5. “Never make decisions out of fear, only spite.”
6. Kaz’s reaction to Jesper grabbing his arm & that moment he took before shaking Heleen’s hand.
7. Kaz quickly switching from Plan B to Plan F showing the man has so many contingencies in place.
8. “No businessman worth his salt bargains for what he can take.”
9. The fact that we see him in some many different costumes. In the books Jesper tells Wylan that Kaz stashes uniforms at a theater in Ketterdam.
10. The fact that Kaz can realize where someone is from by the way the handle cards.
11. Kaz using truth to outsmart the Darkling. I mean we all wanted him to snack him with that cane but Kaz knows when he’s out matched but knew exactly how to get to him
12. “It’s dangerous to go looking for the dead. What you see may haunt you for the rest of your days.”
13. The fact that Kaz takes so long to believe the sun summoner is real. Kaz doesn’t believe in the whole idea of a savior because no one ever saved him. (Until Inej)
14. “Unlike a spider I only need one good leg.”
15. Kaz realizing what Arken is really up to and setting him up to get caught.
16. “Hope is dangerous. It clouds your judgment.”
