🚨 News: UEFA’s Executive Committee last week agreed will see the UWCL will redistribute €24 million to women’s football across Europe – more than four times greater than the current figure. 1/
The new financial distribution model will also draw on the first ever cross-subsidy from UEFA men’s club competitions to support the women’s game and UEFA investment. 2/
Teams playing in the new UWCL group stage will receive a minimum fee of €400,000 – at least five times more than amounts paid to teams reaching the equivalent stage – the Round of 16 – in the competition today. The winner could earn up to €1.4 million. 3/
New regs will safeguard the welfare of players who become mothers. From the start of next season, participating clubs will have the flexibility to alter their squad lists at any time during the season in order to temporarily replace players. 4/
To further professionalise the competition, the video assistant referee (VAR), previously only deployed for the final, will be used for all matches in the knockout stage. 5/
