im gonna teach you on croatian cultures, inventions, food and language if you are interested; a thread
1. KOLO
a traditional dance, not only in Croatia but other balkan countries too. it is danced in traditional clothing where a pair spins in a circle and dances to traditional music
the pair is usually a boy and a girl and there are certain steps you learn, and kids from a young age are taught this (for example me) in school
2. TRADITIONAL CLOTHING
the clothing varies from what part of croatia, for Slavonija this is the clothing, its usually worn for festivals and dances.
this is for Zagorje
and dalmacija, they are all similar but there are different details
3. FOOD
in Croatia there is a lot of meat, every traditional meal has mest in it and as a vegetarian its really hard sometimes, so here are sarma which is meat rolled in cabbage and mlinci s puricom which is pork and bread (?)
4. INVENTIONS
a lot of people dont know this but croatians invented ties! when men were going to war their wives tied fabric around their necks to have a reminder of them in war and thats how ties were created
5. FOOTBALL
we are very proud of our football team, we won 2nd place on world cup and that was a moment the nation wont ever forget. i still remember the excitement when the players were coming back so here are a few photos to show you what it was like
6. THE HISTORY
croatia was a part of Yugoslavia and a big war happened which allowed us to be independent, the war is still a sensitive topic because almost every family lost someone specially if you are from Slavonija and its rather not talked about but still important
7. LANGUAGE
i study 4 languages and the most difficult one is croatian, our grammar is crazy and pronunciation if very hard too if you are from an english spesking country. there are a lot of cases, rules and accents which make croatian a difficult language
