Aardman is better at stop-motion action scenes than Laika.
Laika boasts about animating on 24 very polished frames per second, but that's actually the thing that holds them back. The fight scenes would have beautiful art direction and great choreography, but every movement would feel weightless and floaty.
Meanwhile, Aardman's propensity for slapstick makes them masters of timing and impact. Their aesthetic tends to be more modest, but they know exactly how to sell every action. When something hits another thing, you FEEL it.
I keep thinking about the bar fight in Missing Link and how it botched every physical gag by overpolishing the animation. None of the hits feel real. It almost looks like they're fighting in slow-motion.
I also keep thinking about this part from Pirates Band of Misfits cause it's a cool fight scene.
