Always be cautious with voices that claim to speak for all Vietnamese people, & treat us as if we were a hivemind (even if those voices are Vietnamese, or based in Vietnam). Here are some of the harassments we've faced from (Vietnamese) nationalists & statists when we speak up.

CW: queerphobia, slurs
In response to our article "Queerphobia in Vietnam," death threats have been sent our way, along with slews of queerphobic slurs and queerphobic comments, proving our exact points.

So next time a Vietnamese "leftist" Youtuber tries to sell you the lie of a Vietnam that is some progressive heaven for queer people, with "trans tradition going back hundreds, possibly thousands of years," perhaps questions should be asked.
These Vietnamese & Vietnam-based "leftist" Youtubers, with platforms of tens of thousands, have been spreading & profiting off of disinformation about Vietnam & harassing people with much more smaller platforms. This is their threatening to hit a minor.
They will & have tried to erase anarchist voices & struggles in Vietnam. But anarchists have always been here, fighting kings and queens in feudalist time, fighting colonisers and imperialists for national liberation, fighting for a better world without oppression.
They also misrepresent or outrightly lie about Vietnamese history. There was no such group of anarchists in history, but they lied to their tens of thousands of followers anyways.
We also can't forget the constant fedjacketing & denying us our Vietnamese identity, because binary thinking tends to be a characteristic of the nationalist & statist crowd. If a Vietnamese disagrees with them, they must be a non-Vietnamese working for FBI.
But they cannot silence us anymore: all across Asia, a robust anarchist movement is on the rise. We recognise the importance of solidarity and internationalism, as our struggles interlinked, and only together can we win this fight against the global system of capitalism.
