During the 1965 war, President Sukarno of Indonesia ordered two Indonesian Navy submarines not to return home after routine exercises, but proceed directly to Pakistan for support in war against Indian Navy. The submarines were KRI Nagarangsang and Baramastara. (2/4)
Though by time Indonesian submarines reached Karachi, the war had already been over. However the act had earned Indonesia a great place in hearts of people of Pakistan, particularly among PN personnel. Future CNS Admiral Yasturul Haq also took passage in one of submarines. (3/4)
During the war Pakistan enjoyed sea control on its area of interest in the Arabian Sea as Indian Navy remained restrained in harbors due to fear of submarines patrolling the seas. (4/4)
