I may add to this thread but the upshot of it was that Australia is federated & a constitutional compact made in the 1890s on explicit understandings of the place of the Almighty and of the pluralistic freedoms of the faithful (and those of other & no faiths)
Australia is the ultimate 'diversity experiment' of an immigrant nation where almost everyone descends from origins somewhere else. One of the reasons we have been so harmonious a country is we politely accommodate our differences esp of religion/no religion.
