The higher profile this story gets, the more emails I get. This one from yesterday:

"I worked in one of the [Horizon] call centres (NBSC) from 2000 till 2003 and spent many Wednesday evenings listening to desperate, sometimes sobbing postmasters...
… who'd lost thousands of pounds on the horizon system.

I was supposed to be able to help these people, but, during the training to do that job, there was a horizon machine at the front of the training room, but it was never even plugged in, let alone switched on...
… so, I, and all the other advisers began "advising " on a system that we knew absolutely nothing about.

All I could do was to get the victim a "call back" from a "tier two, adviser", though we were told never to mention...
… that there was a second tier. It was a secret for some unfathomable reason.

and other advisers around me said "Just blag your way through it" when I said that I felt so useless, not being able to do what I was there for...
… I was quite angry that the victims were being fobbed off by untrained, and, uncaring, people when their livelihoods were at risk.”

Shocking, isn’t it?
