My #COVID experience.

This will be a very long thread but I’ll write in such a way that it will be beneficial to whoever reads it (Learnings preferred than experience). However, don’t infer things for your own case from this thread. Ask your doctor in case of any symptoms.
My credentials to write this thread:
I was admitted to hospital, with CT score 10/25 (which increased from 2/25 in 3 days).
Its counted as moderate case (covid+pneumonia).
It was my mistake that I went from mild to moderate. I’ll cover that as well.
My symptoms started on 2nd Apr, most probably caught it from my father whose symptoms started from 30th March. He was well isolated on the first floor, no contact whatsoever. Still me n my whole family caught it.
Learning 1: This second strain is highly infectious.
Symptoms were usual. But there was one more. At times (initial days of symptoms) me and my brother experienced brain fog. I used to go out and buy meds, once I got a dent due to this sudden brain fog. Not scaring you, but try to stay home. This is one of d symptoms of new strain.
Here is what I did wrong(so wrong). I experimented with myself. Doctors give typical set of meds for initial 3-4 days of symptoms. I did not take all of them, thinking its mild. Just took multivitamin. And took coronil on my own. Did not have prob till 6Apr, thought its working.
However on 6th I experienced v high fever, 103. Just to add, my father got admitted on 4th Apr and I was busy with hospital formalities in the day and stress in the night. Slept 4hrs combined in these two days.
Learning 2: Take meds😅, take rest, don’t take stress if u r positive
My CT came out to be mild pneumonia (2/25). Doctor told to monitor fever for 3 days. Monitored, it didn’t go down. Did CT again and it was 10/25. In just 3 days. So I was admitted on 9 Apr.
Learning 3: High fever, wet cough=early indication of pneumonia. Talk to doc asap
Funniest part is, after admitting, the next day fever went away. Recovery phase started. I used to have 4-5 injections 3 times a day via saline. My blood sugar was on borderline before, but after remdesivir it increased significantly. So I had to take insulin iniections too.
^ Learning 4: start maintaining your blood sugar levels, sugar slows down recovery.

I also used to have anticoagulant injections on the fkin stomach. It was the worst. Plus you have to use phone with one hand all d times. All in all, treatment sucks more than the disease.
Some stressful episodes happened in between. Doctors call it hospital anxiety. I had bad dreams about my worst phobias. I had dream of the anime series I was watching where I was being eaten by a titan. I felt I was having breathing difficulty but my saturation was 98 w/o support
Another bad thing happened was that I missed one dose of remd. But doctor explained clearly that many get well w/o it and many don’t with it. Main treatment is of steroids, which is given in hospital treatment along with remdesivir. Don’t worry, it just fastens treatment.
Post discharge, I have been given 30 days of blood thinner and steroid tablets and 15 days of other meds. Inko khaane me hi 600ml paani lag jata hai. Mild exertional fever (99, taken orally) still exists but it’s thermostat regulation post covid, so 99 is new norm for me.
I have to do pranayam for 30 minutes daily, to heal my lungs of damage. I have to take steam daily, do gargle daily. Exercise is needed, doing it. This has to happen for 3 months else blood clots happen if you don’t exercise. Lungs can scar if you don’t practice breathing.
And this is when my oxygen level never dropped below 98. Imagine what it is like for the others. So, again, stay at home. If you have to go out compulsorily, sanitise yourself after regular intervals like crazy. Use 2 mask/. Use disposable head cover, keep shoes as away as u can
My father had similar journey except the fact that he was 1-2 days late of starting meds. He was given fabiflu as well like me but in second strain its effectiveness is subjective. Didn’t work on me too. This video coincides with both of our experience.
Now here comes the most imp part.. preparing for it. Will add many tips. These applies even if you don’t have covid.
1. Google immunity boosting foods and start consuming them.
2. Take giloy tablets.
3. Drink turmeric milk at night.
4. Gargle 3 times a day with betadine.
5. Eat 2 garlic cloves with water every morning unless you’re on some medication.
6. Drink lots of water, 5L
7. If u think u have even 1 symptom, consult and get the medications ASAP. Don’t rule out covid.
8. If 7, take steam 3 times a day. Earlier u start, lesser d viral load.
9. Don’t rely on coronil. It’s good to have but not exhaustive.
10. There is a kadha recipe by health ministry, its termed as Ayush Kadha, which has no relation with @ModifiedAayush, its easily available in ayurvedic/ration/patanjali stores.
11. Monitor your fever, contd
11. Fever 101 and above is a red flag to pneumonia. Don’t wait 3 days like I did, consult doctor and do what your doctor says. Many patients with 15/25 treat at home too, so don’t panic. But if your score reaches 8, doctors will advise hospitalisation.
12. Time is the key. Start meds ASAP, irrespective of RTPCR done or not, first prescription comprises of non covid meds only, but controls the disease, then do RTPCR ASAP because nowadays RTPCR tests take 3-4 days as well, this may worsen your infection if you wait for result.
13. Do HRCT only when your doctor asks. This is because chances of catching cancer increases in CT. And the probability is quite high. Save urself from unnecessary radiations.
14. But if you do take HRCT, ask for the films, they give it that time only, . Cont
14. Ask for films because a doctor can read those films. Don’t wait for lab results to go to the doctor. Take the print out of CT and go to the doctor ASAP, final report may come later.
15. Key blood tests:
16. If you’re a smoker, either stay home or leave it as soon as possible till the pandemic gets over. Your lungs are already damaged, you can’t afford to damage them more. Same goes for alcohol.
POST COVID: You may have mild fever, cough, muscle aches, weakness for few days or weeks. Bt after few months covid rarely can lead to other body complications like change in cognitive abilities, blood clots, lung scarring, liver, kidney diseases etc. So, healthy lifestyle needed
I don’t know how can I stress more to keep you at home, but I am 28, non smoker, non diabetic, non bp, alcohol stopped since lockdown, isolated from father, still the second strain got me. Here are first few pages of the meds I got.. isse accha ghar baith jao🙏🏻
Jo tum remdesivir ek dawai samajhte ho, uske sath ye itni sari dawaiya lagti hai. Dinbhar hath me ghusti hai.
Mere bade papa aur badi mummy ki deαth ho gayi jab hum admit the. Hume discharge hone ke baad pata chala. This new strain is dangerous and NOT the covid you knew before.
And yes, one more thing. Maybe you know it already. Paracetamol just reduces temperature, it doesn’t affect the virus or infection inside you. So if you have symptoms, consult your doctor instead of relying on paracetamol. And don’t delay things at all. It may prove fatal.
