c!philza headcanons but it’s just about his bird traits; preening edition

also this thread is going to be talking about bird traits and stuff! it might not be completely accurate most of my knowledge is what i learned in the bnha fandom! but it’s just for fun and not to be taken super seriously or as completely factual!

- preening is something birds to do to clean, fix the position of their feathers, and to spread an oil that keeps their wings waterproof and allows their wings to move

there were originally only 3 people he let preen his wings: c!wilbur, c!tommy, and c!quackity

c!quackity does it the best because he knows how to really do it but c!wilbur was a close second and was always willing to help. it is mostly because quackity also used to preen his wings before they were taken by dream

c!tommy would try and do it while he was ranting to c!phil about whatever was happening at the moment. c!phil would usually have to either have someone else help him fix his wings later or do it himself because he didn’t want to tell tommy that he wasn’t doing it right

but when c!wilbur lost his last life and c!ranboo became a more permanent figure in his life, he took over helping. c!ranboo’s height helped especially with the top wings and he was also so careful with it that c!phil was able to completely relax when c!ranboo was doing it.

it got to the point where after a long day he would find c!ranboo, lay down and just throw a wing at the younger who would laugh queerly and preen it for him. c!ranboo would also never admit how much he loved doing it

once c!niki joined the syndicate she would watch c!ranboo do it before one day c!phil offered to teach her how to do it. she was embarrassed at first but she was also quick to accept it, before c!phil could say anything, c!ranboo jumped up and offered to teach her

c!niki was great at it from the beginning, her and c!ranboo each took a wing and it was one of the times phil felt so safe and comfortable he fell asleep in minutes

c!phil obviously would preen his wings by himself as well but sometimes there would be one or two feathers right where they connect to his back that he won’t be able to reach, so he would slump over to whoever was closest and quietly ask them to help

bonus:

ghostbur finds comfort in petting phil’s wings and he isn’t sure why, he can’t really help preen but he likes feeling the feathers underneath his fingers
