🌞🌙 the divine symbolism of hasta: a thread
this is going to be an incredibly long thread. please be patient as i upload multiple parts and i honestly recommend waiting an hour or so and coming back to read the full thread all at once đź’– tw// i do discuss abuse towards this end of this thread
hasta, like the other vimshottari lunar-ruled nakshatras, tells a story about the lunar rulership of the senses and the senses’ inherit ability to bring one’s aspirations to it’s highest state of fruition.
hasta is symbolized by the hand. the hand rules over the sense of touch and, in turn, is the mirror that reflects the accumulation of our actions. in “hasta” samudrika shastra, or vedic palmistry, the hands are used to show both the nature and destiny of person.
this power of personal reflection and destiny in the hands is often why hasta natives involuntarily participate in a hand movement technique. this technique involves speaking to your audience with your palms visible to them.
a lot of politicians/public speakers use this technique to convey a more honest or reliable image of themselves. according to jamila musayeva (an etiquette consultant on youtube), “studies have shown that when people look to the palm of [other’s] hands, they tend to relax more”.
as this reflects a more honest and open individual. compared to someone who speaks with a closed fist, as they can be viewed as more hostile, mischievous, insensitive, and sinister (symbolic of the shadow state of hasta).
this is why the fist is considered to be the personification of hasta’s negative traits and the open hand is said to symbolize hasta in it’s divine state. the open hand conveys the diplomacy and skillfulness that is abundant within these natives.
in addition to this behavior, hasta natives are also drawn to adorning their hands and fingers with numerous tattoos. this undoubtedly adds emphasis to the hand, but it is also an external/physical manifestation of mercury’s rulership of hasta.
mercury is the planet of superficiality and rules what is external. thus, mercury rules the skin, specifically our epidermis, because it is the outermost layer of the skin.
tattoos incorporate the superficiality of mercury by adding glamour/symbols to the surface of the skin (symbolic of the bodily-oriented house of virgo), while simultaneously piercing through the epidermis/dermis (mercury) of the skin.
as you might have noticed, the outstretched hand vaguely resembles the outer rays of the sun radiating off of it’s surface. the deity of hasta is savitar the “impeller, rouser, vivifier”. he is the upholder of rta (cosmic truth).
savitar is a beneficent god who acts as the protector of all beings who are provident and guards the world of spirits. savitar is often said to be a form of surya. however, the sun before sunrise is said to be savitar, and after sunrise until sunset it is called surya.
like their deity savitar, hastas have the ability to vivify their surroundings through their creative, inspirational, and transformative endeavors. these natives are of the hasta sthapaniya agama shakti: the ability to gain what we are seeking and place it in our own hands.
this shakti pertains to seeking gain and the process of acquiring itself. in hasta, one is able to achieve their goals with ease and repetition due to the skillfulness of mercury, creativity of savitar, and lunar intuition of it’s vimshottari rulership.
savitar is said to be the creative will that builds up the universe with all of its beauty. hence, this is why our own creative efforts will have great success under the influence of hasta.
however, the aspirations of these natives are not small or easily to obtain for others. they believe in striving towards their highest aspirations and, eventually, towards the path to enlightenment (which is said to be both directed and inspired by savitar).
this nakshatra did not show up at all in my survey of the top fifteen billionaires in the world (ashlesha and jyeshta being the most frequent placements of these natives), however, it did show up frequently among female spiritual leaders in predominantly western religions.
aimee semple mcpherson (hasta 🌞) was a pentecostal evangelist known for her usage of modern media in her religious service and founding the popular foursquare church. ann lee (hasta 🌙) was the founder of the united society of believers in christ's second appearing.
this society was known to worship by ecstatic dancing and movement. helena blavatsky (hasta 🌙) was a russian occultist who was most notably the founder of the law of attraction.
the law of attraction is very common belief amongst hastas, as it correlates to their shakti of bringing their mental state to tangible fruition (the hands). nikola telsa (hasta 🌙) invented the popular 369 law of attraction method.
due to hasta’s intuitive and lunar nature, they are naturally quite sensitive to the astral plane and understanding of what is maya and illusionary in nature. many hasta native celebrities have come forward and shared their support of the law of attraction.
such as, jay-z (hasta 🌙), ariana grande (hasta 🌙), denzel washington (hasta lagna), and chloe bailey (hasta 🌙). a prime example of this is ariana grande’s song “just like magic”.
in this song, she sings, “just like magic. i’m attractive. i get everything i want 'cause i attract it” and details her consciousness and daily spiritual routine. this behavior is very on par for hasta natives.
savitar means the “golden handed one”. it is said everything he touches turns to light. he is the giver of life and assists with the birth of children. hence, he is the creator and and transformer of energy.
