(Some spoilers) Watched Stowaway (2021) last night:
Another sub-par scifi/space movie.
10/10 - Visuals
0/10 - Writing

When will filmmakers realize how important writing is?
#movies #movie #film #scifi #space
I think my biggest issue is the complete lack of morality & critical thinking. Space movies can show the best of humanity, Stowaway (mostly) shows the worst & for no good reason - with absolutely boring/cardboard characters ...
.. + barely any technical understanding of spaceflight (they reach max-q during the Mars transfer burn for example- are you even trying!)
And what about backup CO2 scrubbers or even replacement parts? Nope, redundancy in life support systems is the last thing we need in space...
I could go on about technical issues for days but either way, the moral dilemma quickly goes from 'we have a situation but 20 days to work it out' to 'murder in 10 days is a good compromise because ??', to 'its been 3 days lets just murder a fellow human asap - because ?!?!?' ..
... 2/3 astronauts instantly think murder is the best idea?? The scientist doesnt even want to consider other solutions. And the commander... an utterly incompetent mess the whole way through. Really displaying the bright light of human spirit.

Overall: 'dumb & depressing' 🍿🤦
@cabral_psyd Sorry I deleted the original attempt at this thread (twitter being a pain today it seems)

You commented something about Scott Manley being a consultant on this movie? I dont know how much he was consulted on but seems they threw any of his advice in the bin.
