It& #39;s strange how many times I& #39;ve received a gift and it ends up not working/being compatible and it sucks when they& #39;re really expensive cool things because it was a really thoughtful gift so I& #39;d feel bad about saying that I cannot use the thing, so then I don& #39;t say anything
I was gifted some neat biker gloves for Christmas but they ended up being too big

Thankfully the receipt was included for this exact situation, but the smaller size was strangely more expensive so I& #39;d have to pay almost $10 for something that should have been a free gift
For my birthday last year, my sister got me a button maker which ended up not working, like it needed a different attachment

I felt bad about it and only told her when she visited since she wanted to see it in action, but since I waited, it& #39;s long past the return/exchange date
The biggest one is Christmas 2019, my dad bought me a nice new radio head unit for my car that should have been compatible with my exact make and model, but since my car had a different kind of speaker built in it ended up not being compatible.
I addressed this issue with my dad but we put it off for a really long time, and only now did we learn that we need to bypass the system in a particular way... which will run me $230 to get it working
If we researched it sooner, maybe we could have returned the unit to the seller
Bah
I& #39;m so thankful that I was thought of and given these gifts, but it& #39;s certainly a weird situation to be in that I was given a really cool thing, but in order to use it I have to make additional purchases. Not at the fault of either of us, of course
I feel like this thread puts me on the brink of sounding entitled, so I& #39;d like to make it clear that none of these gifts were requested, they were complete surprises
The latter two situations could& #39;ve gone better had I addressed them immediately, but I just think about how bad or at least awkward the gifter would feel that they got me a cool thing that I can& #39;t even use

And when I am faced with a problem I usually do nothing til it& #39;s too late
But yeah I& #39;m just really bummed out and in a weird situation with all of these still remaining as issues that need me to spend money that I just don& #39;t have

And... they& #39;re not necessities, so it won& #39;t feel right to do like an urgent fundraiser like I did with my car
It& #39;s all WEIRD just weird unfortunate situations
