i wonder how different american food politics had been if omnivores dilemma was a better book, at least amongst my 'coastal elite' segment i think it might be a kind of ur-text for people who are reliably wrong.
cultural influence is always hard to pin down. maybe organic food and SuStainAble MeAt would have gained traction even without it. but a lot of the language and aesthetic seems like it tracks back to the same, just absolutely trash, book.
