Steven chose her for the role because she worked the best alongside Matt Smith and could talk faster than him! As with previous casting, auditions had been shrouded in secrecy, with the series being referred to as Men on Waves (an anagram for "Woman Seven"). 2/8
Although announced to be joining in that year's Christmas Special, Jenna made a surprise first appearance in Series 7's opener Asylum of the Daleks as Oswin Oswald, thus creating a thread about "The Impossible Girl" 3/8
This thread was taken up with her 1st full story The Snowmen through to the series finale The Name of the Doctor. She continued in the role as new Doctor Peter Capaldi arrived, & remained in the series for a further 2 years before bowing out in the Series 9 finale Hell Bent. 4/8
In 2013 she altered her Equity-registered name to be simply Jenna Coleman her 1st credit under this name being on Doctor Who Live which introduced Capaldi to the nation as the new Doctor.

Starting in Emmerdale as Jasmine Thomas in 2005, she went on to appear in Waterloo Road, & Victoria plus other successful series. Sheâs also 1 of many Emmerdale stars who have had roles in big Hollywood films. Recently starred in The Serpent as Marie-AndrĂ©e Leclerc on BBC1. 7/8
Jenna is a very distinguished & versatile actress who has come from a Soap Opera & has risen head & shoulders above her competition. Whatever her next role is I'm sure it will be very successful & stretch her acting ability. Will she ever return to Emmerdale...Who knows?
