Vaccine injury worries ARE conspiracy BS. Let’s take a look, shall we? Antivaxxers love to point out that there has been $4.5 billion paid out since the 80s for vaccine injuries. This is absolutely true! But here are some points you have conveniently left out: https://twitter.com/soopertrollassb/status/1385716066526040064
1. These payouts are part of a program by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) that was specifically designed to compensate those who claim injury by vaccines quickly.
2. That $4.5 billion dollars amounts to ~8000 people. Since the 80s. In that time, BILLIONS of doses of vaccine have been administered in the US. 8000 out of billions.
3. The majority of these injuries were anaphylactic shock which indicates allergy, not that the vaccine was unsafe. Other injuries include sore muscles.
4. You do not have to prove a link between your injury and the vaccine to get compensated. Many are settled to keep things timely as the entire National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) was started to protect vaccine supply by limiting the manufacturer’s liability.
If everyone who thought they were injured by a vaccine sued the manufacturer, we could tie up the resources of those manufacturers in court battles, threatening their ability to manufacture enough vaccines to keep us healthy and safe. The program is designed to be
Quick in settling these cases, and so many times, they are settled without proving a connection between the injury and the vaccine. So when all is said and done,
The vast majority of payouts were for allergies and injuries that were not proven to be result of the vaccine. Leaving an absolutely minuscule amount of actual injury (not death) caused by vaccines. You have a 1 in 4.5 million chance of being injured by vaccine. Meanwhile...
You have a 1 in 103 chance of being injured in a car accident. Either you get vaccinated or post a video cutting up your driver’s license. What YOU need is a vaccine for special snowflake disease. #VaccinesSaveLives
